The Buckley School of Etiquette came about after I gave birth to my son 6 years ago. I found myself wondering how I was going to impart all of my wisdom upon him. How was I supposed to prepare him, for the world, with a respect for others, kindness, compassion, confidence, a sense of community and the ability to set and achieve goals.
I started reading books on everything regarding child rearing soon after he was born. I still refer to so many of them to help me navigate this thing called parenthood. Being a parent is a tremendous responsibility. There is so much to teach these little minds. Unlike chickens, who leave their nest soon after they are born, our little chicks are totally dependent upon us from the moment they are born. We aim to teach them well so that they may leave the nest with an artillery of knowledge. We aspire to give them a combination of skills so that they develop into well rounded, independent and likeable people. Some of these skills and knowledge we impart at home, and others we outsource to specialists in fields of music and dance, language and sports. We want to hone their talent, whilst reinforcing the elements they already practice.
Have you found yourself repeating "Please sit down," Say "Please and Thank you," " Please share your snack or toy with your friend," " Could you help around the house?" "Don't worry about what the other children do just worry about yourself," "Call your aunt about your birthday gift. " I know, we all feel like a broken record.
I have compiled age-specific programs for children which address, and reinforce the fundamentals of manners. The program covers everyday manners, table manners, rudeness, apologies, the art of conversation, the art of a proper thank you, community service, saving, proper hygiene and dress. Children attending the programs have fun in a group setting, whilst consolidating values taught in the home and reinforcing the benefits of using good manners. They learn the impact of good manners and are motivated to practice these to put their best foot forward in life.
Great Manners are the key to your child's future success and The Buckley School of Etiquette will give your child a head-start in making a great first impression that becomes an even better lasting impression.
